I realize I haven't posted anything in a super long time. Quite sorry about that. I have a bunch of drafts for posts right now. I just can't finish my thoughts. I'm doing my best to get something out.
Opinions are a big deal in my life right now. There has been a lot of controversy about people getting mad at other people for not agreeing with their opinion. I just want to say that is the dumbest thing ever.
We are all entitled to our own opinions. Not everyone is going to agree on something. And you can pretty much argue or debate about anything. But the problem is when people don't agree. You start spitting out facts and statements. Most of these facts are either made up, or you aren't sure if they're true. Here's a tip, never state a fact that you aren't 100% sure about. It you do state a fact, make sure you know where you got it from and know if its a credible source. I hate saying that because most people just use Wikipedia for everything. In all honesty though, it isn't credible.
Something else I really hate is when people state facts and the other person doesn't agree with it. Like really?! Are you an idiot or something? You can't disagree with a fact. I once had a conversation with someone about the little respect teachers get in school. Basically, I made the statement that you must give respect before you can receive respect. That's a widely known fact. It's in many books over people skills and leadership. You know what he says, "I don't agree." Dude.. You can't disagree with a fact. It's just not humanly possible.
The media also affects our opinions. News tries to persuade us to think a certain way. We all know it. But no one does anything about it. I'd like to take some time to recommend a book. I honestly think if someone were to only read one book in their lifetime, it should be this one. Leadershift by Orrin Woodward and Oliver Demille. Quick gist: "A call for Americans to finally stand up and lead." It literally says that on the front cover. It's a great read and it's in story form, so it's not boring. The guys who wrote the book are great leaders. I actually met Orrin Woodward once before and I'm planning on meeting him again at a book signing next month.
Anyways, my big point is that if you have an opinion, stick with it. Unless by some chance you happen to change your mind. Think whatever you want to think and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Well that's really all I have to say. Wow this was a really crappy post. Tell me what you think. I'll try to post more often. And give me topics! I'd love to write about things on other people's minds. Thanks friends:)
